Child Labor

The term Child Labor itself hides a lot of hidden sentiments and meanings. The word Labor defines the physical effort or an untiring struggle that requires the blood sweats, but when it comes to Child Labor. It is one of the topics that include emotions, beliefs and opinions. Child Labor is a kind of crime in which the children are usually forced to work within their very early ages and give their performances by being a part of Social and Economic activities like adults. According to International Labor Organization (ILO), no any child will be involved in any kind of work unless the age of the child is up to fifteen. The Child Labor deprived children from their childhood, proper education, physical mental and social being.


It has become an international concern in most of the countries as it is resulting in destroying the future of the Children. Child labor has become one of the biggest social problems in most of the developing countries and they are severely concerned about this problematic condition.  The mental and physical capability of a child below the age of fifteen is probably not enough to get involved in such economic and social activities that require blood sweats.

·    Causes of Child Labor:

The causes and reasons of Child Labor are enormous. Most common reasons of Child Labor are; poverty, improper education, limited rules and laws on Child Labor. Following are probably the main causes of Child Labor:

§ Poverty and high level of unemployment in the developing countries is one of the reasons.

§ Lack of access to the regular education in most of the countries.

§ Children are away from the School Life.

§ The rise of Child labor in the sectors of agriculture and domestic work is due to the inadequate social control.

§ Early Aged Children involved in child labor to help and support their family’s financial status.

§ They are hired by the industries to get more work in low cost.

Child Labor as a crime: Even being a big crime, Child Labor is still practiced in many countries. Many Business owners of factories and industries hired children to get more and more of factory and industrial labor in reduced labor cost. Poor children are enforced by the parents to step out of the home and earn money to help them in financial problems although they are too young to realize their responsibilities towards their families,

Snatched proper education and playing with friends from them. If we seriously let our thoughts to get involved in child labor, we may realized that playing with the sensitive life of a Child is considered as a severe Crime….

Solutions to child labor: To eradicate the root of Child Labor, we need to follow some effective solutions on urgent basis to save the future of any developing country as Children are the assets of any country. Following are the solutions to Child labor:

§ Developing more unions and organizations as it may help in preventing the child labor

§ All children should be given proper food and education by their parents from their early ages.

§ The schools and institution should free the education for the needy and poor children.

§ Family control will also help in controlling the Child Labor by reducing the families’ burden of child care and education.

§ Child trafficking should Abolished by the government of all countries.

§ Employment opportunities should be increased for adults to overcome the poverty.

§ Business owners of factories, industries and mines should avoid strictly to employee children in any type of labor.

Conclusion: Child labor is the rising problem of today’s world due to the increase of the rate of poverty. This issue is need to be solved on urgent basis by the parents and teachers especially and Government. Children are very little by their heart and mind and as they carry the prosperous future of any Country. They are basically the responsibility of adult citizens of country. Children should be given proper chance to grow within happy environment of family and schools.

“Child labor and poverty are inevitably bound together and if you continue to use the labor of children as the treatment for the social disease of poverty, you will have both poverty and child labor to the end of time.”
